The Micropalaeontology group at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Aarhus, is well known for its palaeoclimatic research based on benthic and planktonic foraminifera. The group has been working on glacial and interglacial, including Holocene, biostratigraphical research in Northwest Europe and the North Atlantic for more than 30 years. It has a close co-operation with specialists working on other climatic and palaeoceanographic proxies, including sedimentology and geochemistry, as well as with dating laboratories (AMS 14C and Optically Stimulated Luminescence). Recent research has focused on ultra high-resolution studies of shelf deposits in the northern North Atlandic (Iceland and Greenland) and on Eemian Interglacial studies in the Baltic area.
